Homeless Viewpoint

The project is located in the Plaza de Agustín de Lara, east of the Lavapiés neighborhood.

This square has been recently restored ruins and stands out for the presence of the recognizable cylindrical tower in the Pious Schools. It also has a large side slope, which is resolved with a descent in a two-section ramp.

The project seeks to take advantage of this descent, placing itself on the eastern slope of this descent. Thus, it creates a public space to look out over the Pious Schools.

The materiality is characterized by a continuous ceramic skin. A continuous folded plane of ceramic "textile" is generated. It is a union through tensioned cables from the different fences. This textile is supported by a structure of metallic HEB pillars and beams, supported by a wooden substructure on which the ceramic rests.

In this way, two spaces are generated: the upper one that is accessed from the street and goes up to the viewpoint and the lower one that forms a private space collected to protect the homeless. This lower space has sanitary facilities for personal hygiene and community and rest areas.
